Each heart-shaped piece features bright leaves of cerulean glass and entwined wire trunks that represent the lifelong togetherness of a devoted couple. Carmi Plaut and Loly Gomez

Philippines-based artist Loly Gomez left rice farming behind in 1972 to open a shop, selling pieces made from recycled glass. When her work caught the eye of Chicago designer and entrepreneur Carmi Plaut, an international partnership was born. The pair have been designing together for more than 25 years, with Loly also in charge of manufacturing in the Philippines and Carmi handling marketing from Chicago. "The collaboration is so natural and so wonderful," says Loly. "Like family."
