What Makes This Wish You Lived Next Door Sculpture Uncommon

The sentiment that touched so many hearts on our bestselling Wish You Lived Next Door Mug now takes shape in a beautiful handcrafted sculpture. Designed by Carmi Plaut and Loly Gomez, this sweet scene features two stained-glass houses joined by a pair of twined red hearts—an ode to friendships and love that flourish across any distance. Resting on a solid alderwood base engraved with the affectionate phrase, it’s a tender reminder that closeness isn’t always about geography.

  • Crafted from recycled stained glass, alderwood, and wire.
  • Inspired by our customer-favorite Wish You Lived Next Door Mug—a perfect companion gift for long-distance love and friendship.
  • Measures 5.9"L x 1.57"W x 6.3"H.
  • Handmade in the Philippines.

Carmi Plaut and Loly Gomez

Philippines-based artist Loly Gomez left rice farming behind in 1972 to open a shop, selling pieces made from recycled glass. When her work caught the eye of Chicago designer and entrepreneur Carmi Plaut, an international partnership was born. The pair have been designing together for more than 25 years, with Loly also in charge of manufacturing in the Philippines and Carmi handling marketing from Chicago. "The collaboration is so natural and so wonderful," says Loly. "Like family."
