LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW began in 2007 with one bold goal: to create a completely new category of "gourmet licorice." Founder Johan Bülow set up shop on the Danish island of Bornholm and started cooking up small batches that challenged conventions about the time-honored confection. Today, the Copenhagen-based brand is still raising the bar, using natural ingredients, like licorice root, organic chilis, wild berries, and cocoa beans, to craft each chewy bite by hand. In 2024, they became the first premium confectionery company in the Nordic countries to achieve B Corp certification?a reflection of their deep commitment to sustainable production. Their factory runs 100% on energy from Danish windmills, and they were the first in the industry to launch fully recyclable R-PET packaging. As they put it, "Nature is our most important supplier," and they're proud to keep people, planet, and purpose at the heart of every sweet creation.

Unbelievably Delicious!
I've always loved licorice but these confections are an entirely new and exotic treat. The flavors are true with no aftertaste or additive feeling. I am going to stock up for guests as these will go fast!

If you think you don't like licorice, you haven't tried this
I first tried these in Denmark. Brought a carry-on full of these surprising and incredibly unique balls of joy home. So thrilled to be able to buy in the US and believe me, bring these to the gathering, and it's not just another bottle of wine or flowers. These stop people in their tracks. My fave is Passionfruit - perfect crispy shell, perfect balance of acidity, cream and sweet - that one always converts someone who thinks they don't like licorice. I'm a superfan!
