Cory Krieg's first experience with maple syrup was tapping trees with his dad. In his early twenties, he began sugaring with older farmers until he gained the skills to go out on his own, but it took a bout with leukemia (and the advice of his wife Liz) to convince him that making maple syrup should be more than a hobby. Today, Cory crafts his syrups over wood fires in a traditional sugarhouse and has founded a collective to help small farmers throughout Vermont sustain and grow their business.
