I don't know whether this was a poorly roasted batch of four samples, or whether all beans from this roaster are of similar quality. All four of my coffee bean sample bags, even the "Bold", contained the palest beans I've ever encountered. Two of the samples brewed so weak, I'd almost think they were tea. As an experiment, I further roasted the "Classic" beans to a typical "medium roast" darkness and then brewed a cup. It was a definite improvement but still not worth the money.
This was such a popular gift that I bought it a few more times and just now leaving a review. It was a huge hit with all coffee lovers in my family last holiday season, and I'm glad Uncommon Goods has it in stock now!
I bought this coffee bean set as a gift for my friend. He's a sommelier and and had been looking for the opportunity to learn more about coffee and coffee culture. I bought him a small coffee grinder to go with it, and these beans gave us no trouble. Plus they make delicious coffee and each bag of beans comes with a small card with information about its source!
With more than one coffee variety from a variety of regions around the world, this gift was perfect. And with so many different varieties, it was the gift that kept on giving. I definitely recommend this for family, friends, clients, or neighbors who pride themselves on enjoying exceptional coffee.
