“I'm always looking for different ways people can use succulents to brighten their day.”

Bloom where you're planted. That's the belief of Heather Auchter, a California succulent grower and designer. "I'm always looking for different ways people can use succulents to brighten their day," she says. Heather's creations are easy-to-care for and can be used as decor anywhere from a wedding reception to a kitchen wall. "My inspiration comes from thrift shopping and using containers and reclaimed wood for planters," she says. It"s her hope that some of that inspiration will carry through to you. "There are so many ways that people can use these plants. They're hooked once they start collecting!"

Care
Due to the delicate nature of living succulents, this should be opened at the time of delivery and should not be shipped to below freezing climates.

Please note: succulents will take approximately 8-12 weeks to "root" so please do a light 'tug test' every few weeks before hanging to ensure they have rooted into place. The planter should be kept slightly moist while rooting. Thereafter it can be allowed to go fairly dry and watered with a fine hose spray to the front. As the plants grow, they can be pinched back to keep them compact if desired. That cutting can be added to your wall or planted in a pot to start another succulent.
Notes
Measurements:
Square: 10.75" L x 10.75" W x 3.5" H; inside dimensions: 6" sq.
Rectangle: 12" L x 9.25" W x 3.5" H; inside dimensions: 8" L x 4.75" W

This is a complete kit with 20 succulent cuttings, moss, wooden frame with netting to hold succulents in place, and soil. The succulents require planting upon receipt of the kit.

It has been constructed of reclaimed wood and with hanging kit included.

I was surprised that this required self-assembly (succulents are all individually wrapped and you must stick them in the frame and be patient so they can grow roots before hanging) but I missed that part when I ordered so that's my fault. Because of that I was skeptical, however it was very easy and the plants are bursting with life. The frame and moss base are sturdy and attractive. Because I'm waiting for the roots to become established I have it sitting on the kitchen counter where it's become a beautiful, unique centerpiece that makes the whole family happy!

The planter came with a very attractive range of succulents. Winter is a sad time for gardeners; it was fun having something to watch grow inside the house until it was warm enough to take them outdoors. Within a few days of arranging the succulents in the planter, I started seeing little flying insects on the moss. Within 2 weeks, the planter was completely infested. I tried an insecticidal soap, which seemed to kill the obvious bugs, but the next day, it would be covered with pests again. Sadly, most of the little plants have not survived. I am a very proficient gardener and at a complete loss how to save this planter.

*This is an updated review.* I reviewed this product and I was not happy with it. I was very sad that the plants were not thriving even though I followed the directions.

The vendor saw my review and sent me a brand new kit. The whole thing, wow. Anyway, this one has totally taken off. It is growing strong and I may need to do a little trim. I did exactly the same thing I did before but this one took off. Maybe the first one was seasonal timing or just a different batch of plants. I am very thankful that I was given a second shot because it is exactly what I wanted and I love it. Knock on wood, I have not lost any plants!!!!

The first one I bought is still kicking but as I said before, the more decorative plants just never took off. Maybe I can learn how to trim and transfer from pot to pot. That would be kind of neat to learn. Now, the planter is pretty and educational.

Comments about UncommonGoods Succulent Living Wall Planter Kit:

I received this product as a wedding gift in October 2016. After having the product for more than four months, I can say that it starts out great and then (sadly) goes downhill. After keeping the product flat but elevated on blocks for 12 weeks, I had a great collection of strong succulents. I moved the planting to a wall, where it was fine for a month. However, since then, this product has gotten mold and rot everywhere, and the succulents have started to die. Even back on a flat surface (off of the wall), it is growing mold constantly. I haven't changed my growing or watering habits. I think that once the mold starts, it's just really hard to stop it. This product would be great outside or as a centerpiece on a table. I do not recommend it on walls for interior spaces.

I received this as a Mother's Day gift from my husband and 2 girls. I loved it and thought is was so thoughtful. I followed the instructions to a tee. I loved and nurtured it because I really wanted this to work and grow. Unfortunately, some of the babies didn't last out of the gate and as time is going on some of the more decorative plants just never took root and are slowly dying off. Some have done wonderful and are growing well. I lost over 50% and it just doesn't look like the photo. My girls get sad every time they check it because it is looking thinner and thinner. Now that I see how much this gift cost, I would say it is not worth the money. It is a great idea. I honestly loved it but it just did not turn into the beautiful gift it was meant to be.

This succulent planter is a great idea and looks awesome, however it does have some faults. Unfortunately, while my succulents are growing well, I have encountered a mold problem. White and back fuzzy mold is a reoccurring problem on the back of my planter box. I've tried keeping the planter at a slight angle to allow for air flow while the succulents are still rooting, but I keep having mold growth. I love my planter and the succulents are growing great, but the mold issues I've been having are a concern.

                  Service and delivery comments:

Shipment took a long time to process from initial order, but understandable since this is a hand-made product.
