Destined to be a traveler, artist Alyssa Kauanoe was born in the US, grew up in Tokyo, went to college in Washington, DC, taught first grade in the Mariana Islands, worked as a designer in the Bay Area and an artist in Hawaii, and now lives and works in Tucson. Being self-employed gives her plenty of time to pursue her passion for camping and exploring with her family. "Every time we visit a new park," she says, "I am inspired to preserve my experience in whatever art form it draws out from me."
