A Light Run

While training for the Boston Marathon, runner and designer Doug Storer injured himself when he hit a pothole he couldn't see in the dark. You might say a light bulb went on for Doug that night and he designed a pair of lamp clips for your shoes that light your way without getting in your way. They provide 270 degrees of visibility in front plus two rear-facing taillights, making you instantly visible to traffic from all sides. Their shoelace positioning also means the light is exactly where you need it, so potential hazards are easy to spot and avoid. Each unit fastens securely to your laces with a stable, adjustable bracket. Housed in high-impact, water-resistant cases, they're powered by Li-ion rechargeable batteries with a micro-USB port and included "Y" connector to charge both units at the same time. Great for both urban and trail running, they're a safe bet for any avid runner. Designed by Doug Storer. Made in China.

Sometimes, calamity is the mother of invention. Runner and designer Doug Storer was training for the Boston Marathon and injured himself when he hit a pothole that he couldn't see in the dark. You might say a light bulb went on for Doug that night. His Night Runner lights aim to combat this statistic: every eight minutes, a runner, walker, or cyclist gets hit by a vehicle, and more than half of these accidents occur after 6 p.m. Observing that runners all lead busy lives and the only time for some to get out is after sundown, he decided to shed some light on the situation.

Comments about UncommonGoods Night Runner Headlights:

Best walking/jogging light I have ever used! Really lights the way in front of you. I walk approx. 12-15 real miles a day (Garmin tracker) and total 17-20+ FitBit miles. Today i will turn 20,000 FitBit miles in 3 1/2 years, 40 million steps. Go through a lot of shoes. I do a lot of early morning walks/runs so I tried everything regarding lighting the way on dark roads and trails. This is by far the best product yet! Actually on the roads now people in cars see the lights and turn down their high beams (never happen before). The lighting for the first few feet is bright and shows rocks on trails, ice on the rods, and a few rabbits immediately in front of me. As I step the light projects forward up the road. I used headbands and belts and these Night Runners are the best. I do not feel them, they are light, and last 5 days or 5 hours on low light which by the way is very bright (low) for dark roads. I keep them on my shoes and just plug them in when they need a charge.
Great innovate design. Wish I had them years ago!

Comments about UncommonGoods Night Runner Headlights:

After an early morning- before the sun came up- tumble on a cracked sidewalk my husband ordered these for me. They have multiple light settings and attach easily to my shoes. No untying laces, just slide them on and they stay put. They have a little manual tilting adjustment feature as well so you can aim them up a bit higher or down depending on your needs. They come with a dual USB outlet charger so you can charge them both using one cable plug. I find that I need to recharge them about every 4-5 uses depending on the length of time I have them on. I use them for running or walking in the dark or dusk. I have received several compliments on them and many curious inquiries. Love these LED Night Gear lights and extremely glad my husband got them for me!!!

Comments about UncommonGoods Night Runner Headlights:

My brother is an avid runner but often is running at night so this seemed like the perfect gift. Headlamps are great but it's nice to see your feet and the ground where you are placing your feet more clearly. As a driver, I think it is great to have more lights to make runners visible.

        Service and delivery comments:

The product shipped much quicker than expected. It is delivered UPS by USPS though so it was held up in transition for a couple of days.
