I can see the numbers!
This is better than expected. It is solid. It has a good-looking design. It works!! The floating concept is new to me and it works. My biggest concern in finding a rain gauge is that it have LARGE readable numbers from a distance. Gauges nailed to the railing of the deck close to the door are unreadable so this one although further away in the flower bed is still readable! Thank you.

Best rain gauge ever!
We have had many different rain gauges over the 35 years we have lived in our house. Some were made of plastic, some were made of glass. This is the best one ever! It can be used all year round. No need to bring it inside when temperatures are below freezing. Very durable. Can be used to measure the liquid content of snow by bringing it inside and letting the snow melt. For a more accurate measure of liquid water, we pour the water collected in the copper tube into a plastic gauge that is marked in 10th of an inch.

Great practical beautiful product.
I received the rain gauge as a gift a year ago-I love it so much- I sent one to my friend in NY and niece in OH for their birthdays. They both were equally as pleased as I was -both are gardeners & particular as to what adorns their habitats! This rain gauge is as beautiful as it is practical! It is appropriate for all ages & abilities.

We have enjoyed this gauge for a couple years but noticing that the foam insert disintegrating and affecting the measurements … is there a way we could get a new foam cylinder replacement ? The external part is still in great condition.

Does the fascinating information about the discovery of the pluviometer come with the product? My son-in-law will love the science behind this!
Verified reply from Allison
The gauge arrives with this info on a card! 'What's so cool about the World's Coolest Rain Gauge? Science, that's what! It's based on the Archimedean principle of water displacement. Water flows into the outer sleeve and the blue tube floats up.'

If water is left in the gauge, will the plastic withstand freezing temperatures without cracking?
Verified reply from Amy
Hello! The inner measurement tube is polycarbonate, the same material from which they make motorcycle windshields — it’s very tough! And the copper part withstands freezing temps too!
