Growing up in the United Kingdom, Lucy Coggle always wanted to be an artist. After receiving a "sensible" degree in English lit from the University of Oxford, she eventually worked her way to a master's in fine art from London's Royal Academy of Arts. While taking care of her newborn and trying to think of a birthday present for her husband, she began drawing an owl around a print of her baby's feet. The gift elicited love from Lucy's friends, and soon enough, a business was born.
