What Makes This Birth Month Wildflower Bouquet Uncommon

Gardeners, artists, nature lovers, and all the world’s best moms: You were born to receive this bouquet in your birth month--and these faux flowers radiate affection that’s fade-proof. Makers Carmi Plaut and Loly Gomez sculpt their stunning wildflower art from shimmering fragments of recycled glass—a light- and eye-catching way to celebrate your day.

  • Firmly planted on an alderwood base, each gathering of gemlike blooms stands among waving wire grass.
  • There’s even a winged glass friend hiding in the foliage.
  • A sweet surprise for birthdays, Mother’s Day or even a thanks for being there day.
  • Choose from 12 flowers, one for each month.
  • Handmade in the Philippines.

Due to the recycled and handmade nature of this item, each is unique and will vary.

Carmi Plaut and Loly Gomez

Philippines-based artist Loly Gomez left rice farming behind in 1972 to open a shop, selling pieces made from recycled glass. When her work caught the eye of Chicago designer and entrepreneur Carmi Plaut, an international partnership was born. The pair have been designing together for more than 25 years, with Loly also in charge of manufacturing in the Philippines and Carmi handling marketing from Chicago. "The collaboration is so natural and so wonderful," says Loly. "Like family."

As the festive season gets going, the presents that land best tend to be the least predictable ones. Adding a name or a date turns an object into a keepsake, and keepsakes are what people hang onto. Have a look through our unique Christmas gifts for more along the same lines.

The rest of the list usually sorts itself out by recipient. Between our gifts for men and our gifts for women there is something for the whole table.
