I've been talking about this for years!
100% recommend for any space and any person!! The colors are amazing, the flow was perfect once I adjusted the air level, and I spent probably 30 minutes just sitting and watching the magic! We unfortunately, 100% our fault, let it drop and shatter right before mounting to the wall.. BUT, we're ordering a new one first thing tomorrow since it's so absolutely perfect!

See the Northern Lights everyday a different way.
Uncommon Goods provides exactly what an internet shopper wants. Product videos , plenty of pictures and information and customer service to insure satisfaction. This item arrived timely and impressibly packaged. It is a beautiful piece of art. I followed directions, adjusted the air easily a couple different times to get the sand falling the way I like it. I turn it often. I especially liked the idea of being able to spin it on a wall, but I'm not going to hang it. I wish it also had a stand because I enjoy seeing it while sitting in my favorite chair or room.

i would buy it again and again if if helped
My daughter would like to go to Alaska, see the Northern Lights. She's getting married in Dec. and even if just for a minute, I think this takes her mind off of things that cause her anxiety. Her fiance laughs because she turns and looks at this daily. Thank you for offering a wonderful piece of art.

A daily routine, but for the wrong reasons...
This was a gift. It is very pretty and house visitors are immediately drawn to it. However, the upkeep on this product is RIDICULOUS, especially if you live in a climate with low humidity. We've had this product for less then a year and a lot of water has slowly evaporated. It is quite deceptive how much water is in this frame. Over the course of six months, over one cup (approx. 250 mL) has been lost. They provide a 3 mL syringe; however, if you do the math... everyday I would need to add water. If you don't, you have the unfortunate experience of spending the better part of an entire day adding 3 mL of water at time. Inserting the syringe that many times, the rubber seal is bound to deteriorate and it shows. Overall: great, attractive gift but poor quality and design.

FAQs
1. Can this sand art piece be wall mounted or does it need to sit on a desk?
This sand art piece can be wall mounted and also displayed on a desk or surface. It comes with a well-designed mounting bracket that allows you to flip the piece while it's attached to the wall, creating a new landscape every time you turn it. For desk display, there is a small stand attachment in the back, though you'll need to provide a small dowel to use it. Many buyers choose to mount it on the wall so they can easily flip it as they walk by.
2. What does the aurora borealis sand art actually look like in person?
The aurora borealis sand art features stunning, ever-changing designs created by sand and water moving through glass in aurora colors. The dual medium of sand and water produces infinite landscape variations that are genuinely captivating — one buyer who had seen the real Northern Lights in Alaska described it as looking remarkably like a tiny version of the real aurora borealis. The picture changes every time you flip it, making it a mesmerizing piece that people find hard to stop watching.
3. Is this sand art piece a good gift for someone who is hard to shop for?
This sand art piece is widely considered an excellent gift for people who are hard to shop for. Its combination of visual beauty, interactivity, and uniqueness makes it stand out from typical gifts. It has been gifted successfully to husbands, bosses, step-fathers, brothers, and art lovers alike — including for milestone occasions like military promotions. Because the design changes every time it's flipped, recipients continue to enjoy it long after receiving it, making it a lasting and memorable gift.
4. Is this sand art suitable for office display?
This sand art piece is very well-suited for office display. It serves as an instant conversation starter and has been used in professional settings by bosses and business owners. Coworkers have even been known to visit an office just to see the daily changes in the piece. Its calming, ever-shifting design also makes it useful for focus and concentration, making it both a decorative and functional addition to any workspace.
5. How difficult is it to set up and adjust the sand art piece?
Setting up and adjusting this sand art piece is straightforward with a small learning curve. The piece comes with clear instructions and requires adjusting the air level to control how the sand flows. Most users find that after a couple of small adjustments to the air, the sand begins creating dynamic and beautiful designs. Once dialed in, the experience is highly rewarding — one buyer reported spending 30 minutes just watching the sand move after getting the settings right.

How much time does it take for the picture to complete? Thank you
Verified reply from Alice
It totally depends on how much air you choose to inject into the picture. The air bubbles are what keep the sand at the top, and so if there is less air and more space between the air bubbles, it would fall in larger streams and thus finish in a few minutes. With more air and less space between bubbles, it would fall in delicate trails, in which case it may take hours to complete.

Where does the sand come from? Is it in mined from the ocean floor?
Verified reply from Valerie
The sand is manufactured. In most cases, they grind minerals to a specific grade. Real sand is inconsistently sized and doesn't work well in a sand picture.
