Maria Villegas-Heaney is a Maryland-based artist who transforms real flowers into lasting works of art through botanical relief casting. After years in scientific glassblowing, she shifted her focus to creating from home while raising her son, teaching herself the process through experimentation and curiosity. Drawing inspiration from nature, she often sources blooms from her own garden and nearby spaces, preserving their delicate forms in clay and plaster. Each piece is made entirely by hand in her home studio, capturing fleeting beauty and turning it into something enduring and deeply personal.
