Told she'd never make a living as an artist, Kate Wyatt studied architecture and spent years in construction before watercolor pulled her back. Her botanical paintings, known for their stained-glass quality, inspired her first embroidery kit, a peony design that sold out at an art show. Five years and thousands of new stitchers later, every kit still begins as one of her original paintings, thoughtfully developed to welcome complete beginners. Drawing inspiration from the Chicago Botanic Garden and her family's cabin in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Kate works in her Skokie home studio, where a blend of creativity, business, and everyday life is part of the story behind every piece she makes.
