An observant pal can make all the difference in the world. For Romanian-born artist Claudia Long, her friend's comments set in motion a music-motivated journey. One evening, he pointed out the obvious: "My work looked like sound waves," Claudia explains. "That's when I realized I could create meaningful art." Inspired by song lyrics, movie lines, and quotes, the self-taught visual artist enjoys researching and experimenting with the materials she uses to create. "I love working with wood," she says. "It simply amazes me to see what comes out of an unfinished piece of wood."

Not Exactly As Pictured
I want to start off that this is a beautiful piece of work and it appears well made. However, I am disappointed in the colors. I ordered natural with blue tone because my home is a combination of navy blue, light wood, and medium colored wood. The sample images the artist posted of the natural with blue are my home's colors and would match beautifully. I purposefully did not choose the other option because it had black accents. The posted sample photos led me to believe my accent pieces would essentially be blue instead of black. I did not want black because it would be too dark. What I received has a third of the pieces black. In fact there are more black pieces than blue, so the overall piece is much darker than the sample photos for the natural with blue accent option. For the amount of money I paid for this, I'm disappointed that the color combinations are so vastly different from the samples provided, especially since you cannot preview the work before receiving it. Various shades of brown/tan would be ok and fall into the description of natural. Black to me is not natural yet makes up most of color.

This was our second purchase!
The first time I received the custom wall Art was on Mother's Day as a gift from My daughter with the chorus from our song. (You Are My Sunshine). The second time, I gave one to my husband with our wedding song for our anniversary. We love them both. Such a good gift!

Beautiful and unique
This was a gift for my nephew who loves the group Phish. I chose the chorus of one of their songs for the artist to envision that chorus. My nephew was delighted and said he had not seen anything like this before. He has also studied art and said this represented the song chorus beautifully; he hung it in his music listening area in his home that very day.

Pretty art but is it my song?
The item is very pretty. I wish the seller sent a picture of what the sound wave looks like to go with it so I know it's really my song. A silver plate with the song info on the wood might be nice too.

Best gift ever!
I have a friend who has a favorite song that he plays, sings, or hums when he's frustrated. It's kind of a running joke between us. I had this made for a Christmas gift, but I couldn't wait! He absolutely loves it! It's a beautiful piece of art, and only he (and I!) know what it really is!!

A creative piece of art
I have been wanting to purchase this wall art for years. Not only is it pretty, but so creative and makes a wonderful gift. I purchased this for my husband this year as a Valentines Day gift. Of course it was our song, Stand By Me. He loves it. The piece is packed very well, arrived on time, no problems and am so happy we finally have it hanging on our wall.

Beautiful Subtle Decor
I got this item for my stepfather after his father's passing. I used the chorus for his favorite song. The piece is beautiful and a conversation piece for him to speak of his father's memory for years to come.

Is is possible to see a draft of what the the selected song will look like?
Verified reply from Justin
Hello! We don't have previews available beforehand however the song will look very similar to the pictures on the website. The soundwave is condensed to scale to look similar to what’s shown online. The artist normally records the soundwave a few times until the waves look visually appealing. Sometimes they turn the volume up higher; making the highs, higher & the lows, lower. The last thing they want is a soundwave to look visually bland. Then they condense it so make sure it fits right in the size of the artwork.

Hello can the song choice be an original song the gift receiver recorded? Song is on streaming platform like YouTube
Verified reply from Iriscelis
The artist would need an mp3 file of the requested song to confirm they can accommodate the request. Please reach out to us at help@uncommongoods.com with the requested song file and we will reach out to confirm the artist is able to use the song. Please note that this item is meant as an art piece that is representative of the sound wave of a section of a song. This piece does not actually play music.
