Thank you for your question! The National Audubon Society recommends a recipe of just two ingredients: 1/4 cup refined white sugar and 1 cup boiling water. Steps: Mix sugar and boiling water until the sugar is dissolved and remove from heat. When cool, fill the feeder with the sugar water, place it in the copper holder, and you’re ready to host some hummingbirds! Please note: do not use red food coloring, which is not necessary and could also prove harmful to birds. Do not substitute honey, which can promote dangerous fungal growth.
