Italy!
Got this years ago. It's quick and easy and does not require electricity. Calorie free delicious beverage. Saves the plastic we used to waste when we bought Pelegríno. Reminds us of dinners in small towns in Italy. Easy to replenish the SodaStream carbon dioxide canisters with a SodaStream account. Exchange is by mail. The device looks attractive in the kitchen.

Not good
I thought it looked so good and was so excited for this! Unfortunately we received 2 faulty items in a row which was disappointing.

Here is a list of Gas Cylinder Compatible with Aarke Carbonator III: Compatible with standard 60L CO-2cylinders approved for use with sparkling water makers from aarke, AGA, Linde, Sodastream (except for Sodastream Quick Connect Pink cylinder), & idrinkmate.

The bottles are made from a sturdy PET plastic but are temperature sensitive, so we recommend handwashing only.

Does this hook directly into your water line, or does it have a water reservoir? Also, does it have any sort of filtration?

Thanks for your questions! No, it does not hook into anything. You have to insert a CO2 cartridge (not included) into the machine through the bottom. Then, fill up Aarke's water bottle (one included) with water and only water. Afterward, attach the bottle to the machine by screwing it in. Next, pull the lever down to carbonate the drink. Does this use electricity? Does it take the large size CO2 canister? Because I wouldn't want the canister to show in the back of the unit.

Can you select if you want small or large bubbles in the carbonation?

That would be cool but unfortunately, it is not possible. However, 1-3 pulls of the lever determine the amount of carbonation in your water.
