Fun Is Coming

Your smartphone already sits on the table while you're out to brunch, it lays next to you on the couch while you watch reruns and scroll through texts--you might as well give it the official party invite.

Game of Phones turns your trusty cellular companion into the subject of a scavenger hunt between you and your friends. Just gather your friends and their smart phones (sorry, flip phone users, you're not invited), draw a prompt card, and see who can use their phones the fastest to create an emoji masterpiece, show off the last photo you took, or find the weirdest Google Image result for your name. Collect the most points to win. Only the fastest and funniest will survive. To keep the fun going, try one of the expansion packs featuring 30 new cards each to add to the original deck. Made in China.

Materialism Expansion Pack is exclusive to UncommonGoods.

Awkward Game

2

I gave this to my husband for Christmas and we finally got around to playing it with some friends this weekend. It's a fun idea in theory, & perhaps in certain age sets & groups it would work okay. However, for us we found the game too awkward. The emoji cards were fun, but after 4-5 of them got a little old. For us, the big drawback were the cards where you were supposed to text/call etc. other people & get them to respond to you for random things. We are pretty outgoing people, but still found this super awkward - people don't know what you are doing & we definitely got more than one reference from the other people wondering if we were just wasted & drunk texting (not exactly the rep we are hoping to spread). Some of these types of cards also just felt rude to do: like video calling someone & getting them to answer. How does that conversation go? On the other end they will be excited to see you are calling (otherwise they probably wouldn't answer), but then you have to be like "sorry, this is just for a game! I don't actually have time to talk to you right now, bye!". I wouldn't even feel comfortable doing that to my parents. Overall, I'm giving this game away. Maybe for tweens it would be okay, of if we all agreed to just not do the cards involving outside people or something.

Great! I played this with my family. We had a lot of fun! Just don't play it with your work phone... Could lead to some hilariously bad consequences.

Game of disappointments

It was not what I expected after reading the reviews. I expected a game using apps and it was almost completely about emojis or the cards we drew were until we got bored with it 30-45 minutes after playing.
