Poorly designed with incorrect instructions

My wife purchased this for me as a birthday present. What a disappointment. The company that made this game clearly never bothered to follow their own instructions and build All it took to discover the first flaw was to pop the board into the tray and line up the holes for the pots and the coin slot with the holes in the box. The screen did not line up with the hole in the box. An entire row of LEDs was obscured and instead a row of circuits was exposed. Attaching the pots didn't help, one being on a raised bubble keeping it from being flush. The coin slot was on top of another raised piece bubble on the second part of the tray which prevents dropping a coin in. Also there are no holes for the already faint speaker. So I decided to abandon the tray and mount the board and battery pack myself. Next I lined up the wire exactly to the cutting guide in the instructions, cut and stripped each to spec then soldered them as diagrammed. Then soldered on the coin wires and battery pack to confirm that the game was working - sort of. Each pot controlled the paddle on the opposite side of the screen. The instructions claimed "soldering instructions can be found online" but I couldn't find any. I guess they meant generic "how to solder" videos. Luckily the other 1 star review on here mentioned the wires were reversed. So I desoldered, switched, and resoldered P2 and P3 and the problem was fixed. OK, time to mount the board… …nope! The wire cutting guide in the instructions is wrong. Both long wires are too short for the screen to line up even if using the cut out piece of their tray. Ugh! So now I have to desolder at 6 points and recut wires to get it to line up or Frankenstein a couple short wires as extenders. I'm at the point where I'm leaning towards just trashing this out of sheer frustration. I'm posting corrected instructions so you don't have to go through what I did, but honestly there are much better products like this out there. I do not recommend this.

Gets trapped in a loop

Hi there! I had a couple of problems with this one. 1. The pong can easily get trapped in a 'loop' where the paddles do not have to be moved at all for the ball to bounce back and forth between them. The ball does not speed up as in real pong either. 2. There needs to be a label on the packaging to make it clear that it will be reused ad the housing for the game. It can be easy to throw away a part that has a double use later. 3. The instructions are incorrect and instruct you to reverse the wiring to the controllers. If you do the opposite, the game will work correctly.

Even my 18 year old loved this!

I was on the fence as to whether or not my 18 year old would like this gift. He was excited to get started...

Great goft

This was a great gift for my nerdy husband who loves putting things together and all things video games. Directions are clear and it will be a good conversation piece!

Hours of entertainment

My middle schooler LOVED this (he is super in to Lego kits but feels a bit too old for any that are within my budget). Using a soldering iron to complete was peak coolness. Game was simple, but enjoyed.

Exactly as pictured

Game arrived exactly as pictured. Haven't used it yet, as it's a gift, but the order is exactly what I expected.

Theoretically a great present

I'm holding it for my son's Christmas present so I won't know until later how it works, but he's very into electronics so I'm excited to give him a little project to dig into.

Perfect pickleball

Love this desktop pickleball game! We've had a tabletop ping pong set for years. And this is a great way to change it up. Can be used on a desk, picnic table, you name it!

It says soldering required - do we need our own soldering iron or is everything we need included?

Verified reply from Sofia

Hello. Solder Iron is not included. Thanks for posting!

What ages is this appropriate for?

Verified reply from Sofia

Hello! Great question. This is not suitable for children under 14 years. Some basic soldering required.
