Certain years/pages are reprinted from microfilm and font size may be reduced. Missing pages may be the result of a newspaper strike or a lack of relevant information on the front page for that date.

Best idea ever and service was brilliant
I was very late in finding this birthday book and really wanted it in a few days. The date estimated was to be a few days after Wife's birthday so I opted for overnight shipment even though it would still be late anyway. Well...evidently someone at the company noticed that her birthday was coming up soon and it looks like they expedited the book so that it arrived a day before her birthday. Wonderful service!!! I could not have asked for more...And Wife loved the book, thought it was a very original idea. Of course I took full credit ;-)

Excellent Bday Gift
We gifted this custom book to our mother on her 80th birthday and she loved it! It's well made and has a premium look and feel. We love the option to customize the front cover to make it feel extra special. The inside pages are good quality and we do recommend getting the magnifying glass to help with reading the smaller font. It's also worth mentioning it's very well packaged to help ensure the book arrives without any bent corners or dings.

A perfect stroll down memory lane!
I bought this for my soon-to-be father-in-law for his 80th birthday, and both he and my mother-in-law were extremely touched and impressed. Due to his failing health, he spends a lot of time watching tv or reading, and this will hopefully provide ample opportunity for him to reminisce, and for me to get to know him better through it. A perfect gift.

Perfect birthday gift
I purchased this for my grandmothers 90th birthday. She is an AVID NYT reader and has been reading daily as long as I know of. She also loves history and has an incredible memory. This book allows her to look back at how the world has changed in her lifetime. It gives an interesting tool for her to share that history and her perspective of what it was like with others

Don't understand the great reviews.
Sorry but this would be the last thing I would buy someone as a gift. The idea is great. Except you can't see the contents. The print is so small and the cheap magnifying device doesn't even help. I don't even have bad up-close vision and I found myself struggling to read each item to the point where I had to give up. I feel bad for my daughter who spent the money on this useless gift. I barely read three pages and struggled with them. Think twice about purchasing this especially if it's for an elderly person - I guarantee you they won't be able to read it.

These pages are reproduced from original newspapers and reformatted to fit a book-sized layout, which can result in smaller print. Some pages sourced from microfilm may also have finer text. We do our best to reflect this through our product images and description. We're sorry the 2.8x magnifying glass crafted from pewter and poplar wood didn't help as hoped. Hello- what if the birthday is a holiday or near a holiday (for example Christmas Eve), did the NYT print papers each year on the day? If not, do you use the next day? Is there a way to determine that before I order? Thank you!

Hi! Historically, the New York Times has been printed on most holidays, if there is no paper on the date requested in any give year for any reason that day/year would be just be omitted, they would not select an alternative day.

Hi! Great idea. However, the New York Times Custom Birthday Book is a made-to-order item that can only be ordered with one person's info (including his/her first and last name and birth date) for each book.
