Have fun, get real, and learn SO MUCH about your people!
Just get this game if you want to create meaningful connections with your people! Holiday visits with family seemed like a perfect place to introduce the Hygge game, and it's been great for gatherings with friends, too. This is such an inclusive activity and brings together people who do and don't know one another. In my family, the game bridged generations. Even my very active 12-year-old nephew sat with us to answer questions and listen (and said that the most interesting person he knows is his best friend Connor!). I brought out this set of quality cards multiple times; different family members also shared the questions in smaller groups. There are lighter and deeper types of prompts - though sometimes you don't know when a seemingly surfacey question becomes a surprising and revealing window into someone's memories, values, and what is most important to them. Be prepared to laugh, to be surprised, to be open, to tear up, to go "wow!", and even to rethink your assumptions! Some members of my family enjoyed the questions but wanted short answers or time limits for each respondent. (This is also a way to get to know your family, friends, colleagues, etc.! AND it can help you consider how to shape the game/conversation to balance everyone's needs by noting who gets fidgety or distracted, or who likes to spool out a story or ask follow-up questions, and adjust accordingly. This is actually a great way to build understanding among your people by naming these differences without judgment and deciding on an approach together toward a collaborative, enjoyable time for all!) You could use this deck for getting to know a date or a new friend, for personal reflection, or for a low-key family game night.
