Quality product, reasonable price
Bought this because my mom recently got excited about helping to save the butterflies. She just bought a few milkweed plants and this will go great on the stump beside them. Before buying this product I didn't even know that butterflies roosted. The outside construction is very sturdy and has a nice woody smell. The inside boards are a little warped and look like scrap wood is used for this part, but as the inside is sheltered and not a critical component, this is no big deal. We have no intention of using the feeder part because it will likely attract ants by the thousands. It's a nice thought but even if this was mounted on a tree trunk or post it would not be immune to ants; better to plant lots of flowers and let the butterflies forage for themselves. This made a great birthday present for my mother; she was excited and overall I'm pleased with the purchase.
This beautifully made butterfly feeder is a lovely addition to my back porch. Unique, well crafted design. Instructions for making the butterfly feed are easy to follow. Planning to add more to my yard and garden, for sure!
I purchased this as a gift for a friend who had just planted a wildflower garden and was marveling at the number of butterflies. She loved being able to provide a drinking spot that was decorative as well.
This "butterfly puddler" is one component of a special garden for children and adults alike to watch nature unfold right in your own backyard. It is an opportunity to learn about the various types of butterflies that reside in your very own backyard. Pairing this with other products at uncommon goods, like the "ladybug house" or a set of personalized stepping stones is a great foundation for a custom-made, backyard habitat.
I place it on my wide deck railing to keep an eye on the Butterflies. There were a few this Fall when I got it. Can't wait till Spring to have it ready! A bonus....tiny bright green Tree Frogs drank water from it!! I hadn't put the included sand mix in with so few Butterflies this time of year. Breathtaking to watch and help such tiny creatures.
