LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW began in 2007 with one bold goal: to create a completely new category of "gourmet licorice." Founder Johan Bülow set up shop on the Danish island of Bornholm and started cooking up small batches that challenged conventions about the time-honored confection. Today, the Copenhagen-based brand is still raising the bar, using natural ingredients, like licorice root, organic chilis, wild berries, and cocoa beans, to craft each chewy bite by hand. In 2024, they became the first premium confectionery company in the Nordic countries to achieve B Corp certification?a reflection of their deep commitment to sustainable production. Their factory runs 100% on energy from Danish windmills, and they were the first in the industry to launch fully recyclable R-PET packaging.
