Unique and fun wall decor
This is the perfect gift for a chess lover. It's pretty, unique, and fun. Only thing to note is that there isn't a checkerboard pattern which may bother some people who are used to having that. One of the pieces had very minimal contrast between the light and dark wood so it is hard to tell what piece it is, so I plan on reaching out to customer service to see about getting a replacement pawn.
I got this for a sibling for Christmas and had to get one for my husband too. It took us a minute to figure out that each board has the same tokens but in random order. And then we had to settle an argument about what constitutes a truck commercial. But great fun. We play my family remotely! ONE SUGGESTION: add blank tiles to the game so we can add our own plays. We'd like to add Pick 6, OPI, etc.
This game was an unexpected delight. My friend is a history buff and into strategy games (like Go and Settlers of Catan) and he was thrilled to have a new game to analyze.
The rules are deceptively simple, and the dice introduce enough luck to keep the game exciting even if players are not matched in strategic thinking. The game is also simple enough to pick up quickly. Rounds take 10-20 minutes. 2 players is not ideal for a large gathering, but the rounds go by quickly and the game is entertaining enough for spectators that our 4 person group kept picking this game during a joint vacation.
The game itself is well-made. The board is fabric, which means the box is small enough to fit in even our overstuffed game collection. The dice were satisfying to roll, and my friend said the game pieces reminded him of Go pieces. We're excited to introduce this to our game rotation.
For years now I have been known for my gift giving skill. This talent has two parts: 1 - listen to the person you are giving the gift to; and 2 - have a supplier of great products. Uncommon Goods is my 'go-to' supplier. This particular gift was for new friends on the other side of the country that I wanted to acknowledge their wedding. The Tic Tac Toe was perfect. They sent me a picture and a text that said 'AMAZING gift; it's by far the most unique present we received.' I think I am 'all that' for giving such good gits. However, I know, I am only as good as the gifts I find - and I find the best gifts at Uncommon Goods! Thank you!
