After working as a designer and builder of theatrical sets, Jeff Davis enrolled at the Rhode Island School of Design to earn a master's degree in industrial design. Tapping into a cultural shift toward sustainability, the Massachusetts native decided to upcycle an old vinyl LP into a bowl—and got rave reviews. Now Jeff puts his ingenuity to work designing housewares and gifts made from out-of-commission vintage records, all brought to life by a small team of fabricators in his Philadelphia workshop.

This product does not meet my needs, the coasters need to absorb moisture and then it can be used when the outside of the glass has condensation due to the ice in the drink. #sweepstakes

You either like it or you don't. I gifted to a friend who is all into music and vinyls and he could not stop talking about how great these coasters are. It probably does not make sense to use / gift to someone who has no interest in vinyls. It is a good coaster, well sealed for handling moisture and all.

Great fun - nicely made and packaged
A fun variety. I like that you don't know what you are going to get and will be surprised. One set had Petrushka (by Stravinski) sitting on top which amused me as I have played the trumpet solo in it. On that bottom was songs from Sesame Street. Nicely made and boxed attractively. I got two sets which are going to a vinyl fan who is director of community college music program.

Love these! Could benefit from more color
I love these coasters. I have a set and bought another set as a gift for my musician brother. He loved them. I like the durability, and fun of using old records. It's a trip down memory lane. This set had a few black and grey coasters. Since there is no way to choose the records in each set, I would suggest adding more colorful records to each set, so that the mix is more varied.

Great gift!
These coasters were a GREAT hit as a Christmas gift. Vinyl records have become a favorite collectible, so this gift is just right for someone with that interest. The recipient thinks they're fun and looks forward to using them on New Year's Eve.

What is used to seal the record coaster so moisture doesn't penetrate? How is the sealer applied to the record? How long will the sealer last? Thank you.

A clear permanent mylar laminate is applied over both record labels (front and back). It will last for 10+ years.

What albums are actually on the coasters? Are they albums that actually existed or just generic -type stuff

The coasters are made of labels cut from the center of real vinyl records! We don't know what albums are on the coasters as they will all be different because the records are recycled.

Unfortunately there is no way to pre-select the genre of coasters you receive.

I ordered 4 sets of your coasters. Unfortunately the plastic containers of each set are broken. I can send a picture of what they look like. The box arrived in one piece, without any damage, so I am not sure why each of the outer plastic containers were broken. Is there anyway to get replacements?

Hello, I see that you note they are sealed to avoid leakage. It isn't apparent in the photos whether or not the hole in the center is sealed. Does a clear cover that I cannot see in the image lay over the record hole in the center to prevent liquid from reaching the table surface?

Yes. The entire record label and hole is covered with a clear waterproof laminate.
