The journey between the covers of a good book can lead you through all kinds of unexpected places. This playful set of bookends from designer Eric Gross celebrates that spirit of adventure. Hand cut from carbon steel, it captures the silhouette of a giraffe reaching out for some tasty leaves with a neck that grows longer and longer with each book you're ready to digest. Handmade in Kentucky.

Eric Gross

Metal has always been a part of Eric's life. Growing up on a small family farm there always seemed to be some piece of equipment in need of maintenance or repair. He developed the basic skills of metal working from his father and grandfather, spending countless hours in the old white barn, watching them work. When it was time to leave the nest, Eric chose to study Mechanical engineering in college, hoping to put to good use his knowledge of metals and machinery. After college he worked as a designer and sales engineer for various industrial manufacturing companies.

Eric eventually grew bored of designing widgets and decided to use the metal working equipment to make small, handmade household goods. He designed bookends and various other items for his friends. The decision was then made to start selling these items. Tens of thousands of sales later, Eric continues to design original, whimsical and functional items for the handmade market. collection
