I once found a broken-off wheel from one of my son's toy cars and seeing it out of context made the beauty of it shine. I immediately had the idea to cast these wheels in precious metals and create a line of jewelry that is industrial, playful and interesting.

There are many different styles and sizes of toy car wheels, and I have collected some of my favorites to use. I'm always on the lookout for new styles to add to my wheel repertoire!

Tavia Brown's toy car-inspired cufflinks are semi-finalists in the Uncommon Jewelry Design Challenge. Do they have the drive to become finalists?

To those who think these are too expensive, you have no idea what goes into them. Try it someday or watch a jeweler make something similar. I bet you will change your mind.

Hi everyone! I am the artist behind these fun cufflinks. I want to say thanks for all of your comments and I would like to tell you a little more about them. I make every part of these pieces. I mold the wheels myself and I cast them in my own studio. Then I fabricate the connections myself out of various gauges of sterling wire, oxidize them and finish them. They are not quick little projects, but worth the time when I see those rockin' men out there sporting my crazy cufflinks.

Why are there so many cuff link options? Who wears cuff links anymore? I would guess there is a limited market for these.
