Copywriter

We are looking for a talented, eager copywriter to write snappy, witty, brand-reinforcing product descriptions and supplementary material for our website and catalog. The ideal candidate can keep up in a fast-paced work environment, won't crack under pressure, and will capture our unique brand voice through well-written, clever copy.

Qualifications:

  • - Ideal candidate will have a background in journalism, English or creative writing.
  • - 1-2 years of experience. Internships and freelance work acceptable.
  • - Should be highly creative and curious, interested in our products, able to capture the brand voice and be super-efficient.
  • - Be able to work both independently and as part of a creative and diverse team.
  • - Follows directions well and learns from critique, but is also very self-motivated.

Systems Administrator

Marketing Analyst - Customer Retention

UncommonGoods' marketing team is looking for an ambitious, curious and self-starting analyst to lead our customer retention efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • - Manage our email marketing program. Deploy campaigns, analyze results, and suggest new ways of increasing the value of our email campaigns to our customers. Help take our email program to the next level through customer segmentation, dynamic content strategy, and other initiatives.
  • - Assist in catalog circulation planning. Analyze performance of our mailings and identifying profit opportunities. Work with our database provider to develop new modeling and segmentation strategies.
  • - Conduct database analysis to measure things like customer lifetime value and retention rates.
  • - Develop ways of increasing customer retention rates, possibly through things like referral programs or rewards programs, or other ideas we haven't yet thought of.

Retail Supply Chain Planning Intern

This intern will work with the Director of Purchasing to build a rationalization model which accounts for the costs incurred throughout the supply chain of integrating an item into our assortment. Specifically, this intern will map out the supply chain from very beginning of the merchandising process to the time that the first item is sold. With that process analysis, the intern will quantify the cost of each step in the process. Finally, a rationalization model will be created according to which the organization will be able to evaluate the break-even value that an item needs to achieve in order for it to cover its costs.

Completing this project successfully will involve:

  • - Accurately mapping a complicated and highly variable Supply Chain.
  • - Integrating both tangible and intangible factors into an objective set of costs according to which the business will make decisions about its inventory.
  • - Aggregating large sets of data from the company's database.
  • - Interpreting both data and process maps to develop a meaningful set of conclusions.
  • - Using advanced tools for data presentation to present findings to senior directors including C-level management.
  • - Building a set of processes for analyzing costs that will be sustainable without the direct oversight of the person who made them.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • - Process analysis experience.
  • - Experience with Quantitative Data Analysis (formal education in Statistics is a plus).
