The zero-proof trend has made nonalcoholic drinks some of mixology’s most sophisticated sips—but how do you craft a craveworthy cocktail without that boozy kick? Join seasoned mixologist Erika Mauro for this live online class where you’ll learn the secret to luscious mocktails: expertly crafted syrups and vinegar-based shrubs.

  • Explore the age-old origins of shrubs, syrups, and infusions, follow their resurgence in modern mixology, and roll up your sleeves for a hands-on lesson in how these versatile ingredients can transform your home-bar repertoire.
  • Working with fresh herbs and natural ingredients, you’ll craft three delicious mocktail bases: an all-purpose Herbal Syrup, a Pineapple Sage Shrub, and a Hibiscus Allspice Pomegranate Syrup.
  • Erika will introduce you to versatile techniques that you can apply to a wide range of drinks—both zero-proof and alcoholic—making this class ideal for budding mixology enthusiasts and seasoned home bartenders alike.
  • You’ll make three mocktails; a Paradise Soda, Grandma’s Herbs and an El Camino, enjoying the fruits of your labor throughout class. To finish up, you’ll receive tips and suggestions for which spirits to use in cocktails when you’re in the mood for something stronger.

For this class, you'll need a large pot, 2 medium pots with lids, measuring cups and spoons, a large spoon, a large chef's knife, a cutting board, a large bowl, a fine mesh strainer, a cocktail shaker, a barspoon or teaspoon, a citrus juicer, large glass jars with lids (we recommend 2 16 oz., 2 24 oz., and 1 32 oz.) and the ingredients included in the link below.

Informative and Tasty!!

In just an hour and a half, we made three simple syrups and shrubs, then drank the three resulting mocktails! I felt this experience had an incredible amount of knowledge shared, questions answered, and creations enjoyed! I would be interested in having a follow-up to learn about even more shrubs and syrups - Erika was very quick to share recommendations, techniques, and fun facts. One comment I had is that the recipes from this experience make a lot - probably 20-30 servings of the syrups/shrubs - so keep that in mind as you're buying ingredients. That being said, I attended this class ahead of a gathering and was able to prep mocktails for my friends, and they all shared in the rave reviews of the syrups and shrubs! Thanks Erika for such a great experience! #sweepstakes
