No Static at All
Hung outdoors on a hot sunny day, laundry looks so picturesque—and dries phenomenally fast, with fewer, softer wrinkles than in the dryer. But if a clothesline isn't practical for you, Brooke Needer's woolly dryer balls are the next best thing. These all-natural fabric softeners couldn't be simpler to use. Just throw all three in the dryer with your wet laundry, and it'll be dry in two shakes of a lamb's tail. As they bounce merrily about, they stave off static, smooth out wrinkles, and reduce drying time by 30 to 50%.
Brooke makes each one by hand using cruelty-free, ethically sourced Canadian wool, with no dye or fragrance. (Put a few drops of your favorite essential oil on them, if you like.) They'll last a year or two, depending on how many loads of laundry you do. When they become too fuzzy to use, drop them in the compost! They come in a simple, muslin drawstring bag for storage—no plastic bottle to feel sheepish about. Handmade in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
