I bought this for my 14-year-old brother's birthday because he loves a good challenge (kind of person who can solve a rubik's cube in under 30 seconds). This puzzle was deemed "difficult" but it took him around 15 minutes on the first try. When I heard that, I was actually embarrassed to have given him this. The puzzle if kind of deceiving since it looks like it would be hundreds of tiny pieces but really there are just a handful of LARGE pieces. I could have spent a third of the price on a regular 1000 piece puzzle that would have taken him at least a couple of hours.
I love love love love these puzzles. I bought all three of them. Although they look challenging they really are not that difficult. All three of these puzzles are stacked and sitting on our huge counter in our kitchen. My purpose was so that when people come over and visit or cook or...whatever....they can grab these puzzles and have a grand interaction with their mind and creativity. It worked. A friend was over the other day and she sat......enthrawed and busy....while we talked and I reorganized my pantry. These are THE PERFECT family and friends gathering, interaction, sort of pieces to have sitting OUT for people to try. If this fractal company made 10 of these......I would purchase every single one!!!!!! NOT only are these puzzles capable of the well needed MIND CHALLENGE in today's world of smart phones and computer gizmos, but they make a rather simple, sophisticated statement of casual, elegant ART sitting out on my kitchen COUNTER. GO FOR IT AND BUY ALL THREE.
Got this for my boyfriend for his birthday and he loved it! It's good quality and fun to put together.
Upon receiving this as a gift, I immediately loved the visual effect of the puzzle. Then, over the course of a few days, I studied the puzzle - taking out and reinserting a few pieces at a time. Finally, I had the nerve to go for it. I disassembled it and (I'm not boasting here - just the facts) I had it together in about 20 minutes. Then, over the next few days, I did the puzzle from the four different angles - upside down, etc., always finishing within 30 minutes. Now remember, it only 22 pieces, so 30 minutes is not really such a fast time. I still find the puzzle fun to do after numerous completions. It's like a barometer of your concentration. If your mind wanders, the time gets longer. If you're fully concentrated, you get done much more quickly. I like to grab a hot cup of black coffee and sit down with the puzzle. Always a challenge. I keep changing the direction so I don't memorize it - no fun in that! I will add two things: The puzzle, initially, has a strong burnt-wood odor to it. I guess it could be bothersome to some people, but it does fade in time. My first puzzle had to be exchanged. This base is 6 layers of wood. The bottom piece was becoming unglued. Uncommon Goods happily exchanged it. All in all, I recommend this for puzzles lovers and fans of nice, geometric wood working.
My 11 year old daughter loves this puzzle but it arrived with one broken piece. It was packaged with plenty of protection and it doesn't seem to hinder her enjoyment, but it is fragile.
It was so fun interesting and so interactive!!!
Here's one puzzle you can do over and over again and stay challenged. No corner pieces to start you off and strong sturdy construction.
