Set the Scene

When she was a girl, Hil-Dee Bates finished long days on her parent's dairy farm by exploring the fields and nearby river. Today, with the help of her husband Patrick, she etches those memories into designs like this intricate platter. Crafted from stoneware, each dish features a vibrant, mural-inspired scene with a grand focal point: the tree of life. Throughout history, the tree of life remains a symbol of the intertwined richness of the natural world. Now, it acts as a stunning backdrop for cheeses or a crudité, and will impress dinner guests with its unique story. A delightful wedding or housewarming gift, the design evokes the same eternal beauty of nature. Handmade in Brooksville, Florida.

Due to the handmade nature of this item, each is unique and will vary.

Made in Florida

Designer duo Hil-Dee and Patrick Bates came to art in their own unique ways. Hil-Dee grew up on a dairy farm in Idaho where she spent her free hours roaming the farm and fields, gathering creative inspiration. She’d later put that creativity to use in art school at the University of New Mexico. Patrick, on the other hand, was suffering from a sports injury when he found ceramics. He channeled his physical energy at the potter’s wheel, and grew to love the creative outlet it provided. Today, they blend their skills and ideas to create one-of-a-kind designs. In their Florida studio, they’re constantly firing up different concepts, experimenting with glazes, and etching new scenes like on their Tree of Life Platter.
