Perfect Pop

Keep rogue kernels from ruining your batch of popcorn with this innovative bowl designed by ceramicist Catherine Smith. Featuring a clever, colander-inspired bottom, this glazed stoneware server filters out all the kernels that just couldn't get their act together. They become trapped in a secret compartment at the bottom for convenient disposal— just lift out the removable filtering disk. The bowl is made from durable, twice-fired stoneware, so it'll be a fixture for many movie nights to come. Made in Portland, Oregon.

The Popcorn Bowl is for serving, not popping.

Made in Oregon

Exclusively for UncommonGoods

Catherine Smith grew up in rural Pennsylvania and fell in love with clay at first “touch” during a high school art class. She refined her craft while earning a B.F.A., and has been designing and creating fine stoneware pottery for more than 30 years. Her work embodies classic, elegant lines and the idea of creating beautiful, functional ware that can be used every day to enrich our lives. Catherine lives and works in Hidden Valley, Nevada with her husband, Bill and black lab, Schiatzy.

Founded in 2006 in a Portland basement, Mudshark Studios specializes in small batch, custom ceramic manufacturing. Utilizing knowledge and experience that very few in the ceramics manufacturing community have, the studio built a business that gives designers and ceramic artists the option of having their products produced in the U.S.A.

Each item in the Uncommon Collection meets five important standards. Here's how The Popcorn Bowl with Kernel Sifter qualified for the Collection:

Original Design

Unlike ordinary popcorn bowls, our bowl incorporates a removable sifter at the bottom that filters out unpopped kernels for a better eating experience. Fitting into the bottom of the bowl and concealing a hidden collection compartment, this feature is integrated into the bowl's design and materials (both are stoneware).

Very nice bowl

Very nice bowl. My mom said it really came in handy while eating popcorn with my toddler to prevent him from eating the kernels.

Smartest Purchase I've Made in Years

This bowl is used daily! My popcorn junkie eats two bags of the microwave stuff every day. The sifter at the bottom perfectly captures the old maids. Its a clever gift idea, as well, for those who seem to have everything. Its a really beautifully crafted bowl and could be used for salads, fruit or other dishes, if the sifter is removed.

It made a very good gift! She loves it!

I bought this for my boyfriend's mother for Christmas along with the popcorn coal here on Uncommon. She absolutely adores it. She says it's beautiful and awesome!

A bit heavy but we love it

We are enjoying perfect popcorn in style without having to dodge the "old maids."

McMinnville, OR

Beautiful bowl!

This bowl is not only fun and functional, but a beautiful piece to have sitting out when not in use. It is incredibly well made (though a little heavy) and my husband thought it was the coolest thing ever to have a place for the popcorn kernels to go so that he didn't eat them!

Christiansburg, VA

I would buy this again

My wife loves to have popcorn. This bowl was a great practical gift, that also looks beautiful.

Arroyo Grande

This bowl is gorgeous!

we use it for exactly what it was made for, popcorn! We are big popcorn eaters in our house, so I bought two. They are lovely and practical.

A fabulous gift for a real popcorn lover!

She loves the look and the practicality.

Edmond, OK

Buyer Beware

Unfortunately, this bowl arrived shattered. Because it comes in it's own substantial box, I left it in it's box to wrap it. Meaning, my hubby opened a broken bowl for christmas. reading other reviews, seems im not the only one with the issue of the bowl arriving broken. Now I'll be looking for another option to replace this gift.

Sherman Oaks, CA

Fun, unique, beautiful gift!

Absolutely love this product! Got it for my husband who is a HUGE popcorn lover! It's a unique, beautiful piece but with a completely functional everyday purpose! And he loves that he now has a designated 'Hubby popcorn bowl'!
