Made in Vermont
Exclusively for UncommonGoods
Working out of an old dairy barn in Marshfield, Vermont, blacksmith Steven Bronstein has been creating functional and sculptural ironwork with his team for over 30 years. At the forge you will see both the traditional and contemporary tools available to the modern blacksmith. His designs strive to blend the primitive charm of ironwork with the energy and interest of more contemporary design. Relying on the qualities that make iron such a beautiful material, Steven's pieces are both delicate and rugged. Steven celebrates this aspect of his art and looks forward to all of its possibilities.

I was dissatisfied with this cheese slicer because it looks nothing like the photo on the website. The website shows a somewhat flattened handle with very interesting and unique hammer marks along the whole length of the steel bar. My item's handle is quite smooth and round. I understand that it's difficult to make a perfect curve and that some work went into the little curls of metal at each end, but it almost seems like my item was not finished completely.
There is no warning (at least on the item's page−I did not look through the website's fine print) that the item you receive might not look like the photo on the website. In any event, I understand that handmade items never look *exactly* like what is presented on websites, but this was so very different, it was extremely disappointing.
I was so excited to find an interesting hand forged steel item for my husband's anniversary gift, but I wish I had bought something else.

Great gift, he loved it. A family member who is a chef saw it and loved the one I gave my father, so I actually bought 2 of them.
I make cheese, so this will be wonderful for presentation. It also matches the pizza cutter and cheese spreader we purchased before, and enhances our style of entertaining.
Beautiful and unique cheese slicer; perfect as a special gift.
Perfect for son-in-law
Great gift idea for our 11th Anniversary (Steel).
This is an old fashioned concept. I use my mother's French fry cutter, which is along the same concept, and it slices through potatoes like "buttah". Had a cheese slicer like this in the past and was thrilled to find one again.
It is refreshing to find a high-quality hand-made artisan product that uses recycled metals and delivers first-order food preparation.
This is like a cast iron pan. You need to clean it carefully and oil it after use. Trouble is, it doesn't see everyday use like a cast iron pan, so it rusts while sitting in the drawer.
Also, very hard to cleam - small round parts that need to be sanded to get rust out. If you miss a spot, you're left with rusty cheese.
It works on any type of cheeses and simply to use and matches my everyday utensils!
