The Dish on Sponges

Let's dish on sponges: they work wonders for scrubbing pots and pans, but tend to get grimy once they've sat around in the sink. How do you help them stay dry and clean while keeping the counter looking good in the process? That was the challenge posed to husband and wife ceramicists Karen and Stephen Steininger. Their answer was this ingenious, stoneware sponge holder.

The vertical notches in its sides keep the sponge exposed to circulating air for faster evaporation, and hold it up out of any water that accumulates below. Plus, the attached saucer sports a spout to let you pour the collected water away in the sink. Its handcrafted, goblet-like form with swirling, applied decoration also makes it a beautiful addition to your countertop. Handmade in Altoona, Iowa.

Due to the handmade nature of this item, each is unique and will vary.

Great sponge holder!

5

I place this at the edge of my kitchen sink. Any leftover water from my sponge drips into the sink and not onto the countertop. I accidentally knocked my first one into the sink so I ordered a second one. Great storage saver for my sponge and the blue matches the kitchen. Great find.

Great product

5

This is exactly what I was looking for! Our old sponge holder didn't allow for drainage which kind of grossed me out, but this one is perfect. Not only does it allow for drainage for a more sanitary way to store a sponge, but it's also a very attractive design. It looks great in our kitchen! It's definitely one of my favorite kitchen pieces.

Great for my husband

5

This is working great. Gave it to my husband for Christmas because we always seem to be in a disagreement about squeezing out the sponge. He loves it. The sponges last longer because it dries out completely. I love the design and quality of this unique piece of art.

Nifty Gifty

This was a perfect gift for my dad for Father's Day. He's a practical man who likes practical presents so he was as excited as a simple man can get for a good thoughtful gift. I loved it, he loves it, and I know he will use it. It's so unique too with the lip to catch the water. Love it!

Love Sanitary Sponge

I use it right by kitchen sink to put my sponge in right after using. It does not sit with either side laying on something and dries quickly. It is also very nice piece that looks good in kitchen.
