My 6-year-old son loves this. I've never seen anything like it. However, I don't recommend trying to assemble it on Christmas Eve. It took two adults an hour. And I couldn't assemble it on my own, you definitely need two sets of hands (one to hold the parts together, one to insert the screws). The directions were decent and it goes quicker once you get the hang of it. There were a couple tricky parts, though, that didn't quite work out the way the directions indicated. Overall it's pretty ingenious. Oh, beware if you have a toddler in the home - while the cardboard is sturdy enough for young children, my 2-year-old has managed to rip some pieces off. Not a problem with the product, just a reality of living with a toddler.
My 4 and 6 yr. old grandchildren play in the space capsule all the time. They've gone to the moon and Mars!
This is a perfect make-believe space pod. It's my answer to those $300+ natural wooden teepees that everyone is obsessed with, but at < $100, a more agreeable price for something that will not be a permanent piece of decor in our home.
I purchased two space pods for two events at two different schools - one Maker Fair and one Star Wars STEM day. They were amazing to make, with parents and kids getting together to get it done. The kids did astronaut masks to complete the look. Now each school has these in the drama room and in the library. They are big enough to be a fort-like quiet reading space for two kids or just fun for 2+. They got huge amounts of love all around.
My grandsons love to pretend to be astronauts, so the space capsule will be loads of fun for them.
Connor, four, has a big brother going to space camp this summer, with a second brother following next summer. This was the perfect gift. It included the whole family. My daughter said the assembly was simple (BUT she is highly intelligent and mechanically inclined). This was truly the perfect gift. It is visually stunning!
great for kids
It's so fun for story time.
