Hi,
Inspired by a return to college after a 20-year hiatus, tattoo artist Matthew Amey's "Jump Off" series encapsulates the artist's personal meditations on the transience of youth and the uncertainty of adulthood.
He explores the implications of these reflective thoughts and feelings with a depiction of the nostalgic sentiment of freedom coupled with stark, gestural strokes and symbolic details. In the enthralling design, a child is suspended mid-swing while birds hover around the tree's branches. The tree represents stability, safety, comfort, excitement, and the all-encompassing love of family, while the birds represent the opportunities and challenges the child will encounter as she reaches life's crossroads.
With its strikingly straightforward duality, the piece juxtaposes a child's carefree nature with an adult's projection of the future, using a personal and universal childhood experience as an opportunity for deep expression. Limited edition of 200 sequentially numbered prints made with oil-based inks on Somerset textured paper. Contemporary black frame. Made in Newark, Delaware and hand signed.

I'd been admiring this artwork (i bought all three to hand together) for over a year now..couldn't quite take the plunge. After my living room was repainted I decide to go for it - I am thrilled...they look beautiful hanging as a trio and individually each one is a joy. The tiny details just add to the lovely print.

Packaged wonderfully, even more beautiful in person! The print took me back to my childhood days of swinging and singing "The Swing Song".
Happy moments from times gone by flashed before me when I saw this print! Loving it more each time I look at it!

I bought this as a graduation gift from college...it's perfect: long-lasting (something she'll have forever) and inspirational. I wrote something for the recipient and attached it to the back, which hopefully describes why I selected it for her. The artist provided perfect information as to what he was trying to communicate in creating this beautiful piece, and I used that in my letter on the back.
