There is something inherently poetic about sea glass–discarded by man, smoothed and shaped by the sea, and eventually rediscovered by beauty-seeking beachcombers. One of those beachcombers is often artist Courtney Gillen, who scours the beaches of Hawaii for the most stunning sea glass samples she can find, then ships them back in bulk to her studio in Maryland. There, she fashions them into modern but evocative jewelry like these circular drop earrings. To make this pretty pair, Gillen painstakingly matched the two pieces of cobalt sea glass for color and size. She then framed them in a clean-lined sterling silver design that subtly enhances the beauty of the glass. Handmade in Maryland.
