Diamond in the Rough
Emilie Shapiro’s take on the classic diamond solitaire ring is one of deconstructed, casual elegance through recycled gold and an unusual gray diamond. Sourced from Brazil, the responsibly mined, “conflict free” diamonds that Shapiro uses get their distinctive hue from high concentrations of hydrogen. Shapiro hand-selects these diamonds for their unique imperfections and incorporates them in her designs in their natural, uncut state. Using the lost wax method, she casts the band and bezel with gestural flair, and embeds the smoky, crystalline stone in the setting with an organic embrace that follows its every contour. This ring celebrates the raw beauty of precious yet unrefined materials, making it a singular statement for engagements, anniversaries, or everyday indulgence. Handmade in New York.
