For Daniel Riffle, joinery goes beyond the basics of cabinetmaking: He strives to join wood with his imagination. He's long been fascinated with the textures of wood, its smells, and how it behaves when it's cut and shaped. He spent many years enjoying woodworking as a hobby and learning the ropes in a commercial cabinet shop. He always wanted to build his own pieces from his imagination and has steadily worked in his West Virginia workshop toward a product line that is inventive and cohesive. Based on classic or iconic pieces reinterpreted with a 21st-century feel, his designs blend beauty and function.
