Hi,
$100.00
At one time, these barrel tops sealed the French or American oak vessel used to age and ferment fine wines. Now, they receive new life as handsome, repurposed pieces of home décor that are bound to make wine lovers and recycling aficionados alike dizzy with delight. Each piece is distinguished by a cooperage stamp (a marking from the cooper, or barrel maker). These distinctive stamps add a gorgeously authentic touch to each piece and offer valuable information about the provenance of the barrel, such as the forest where the wood was harvested and whether the wood was toasted. Handmade by artisans in Texas.

The Lazy Susan has been a fun addition to our Monday night family dinners! My grandkids couldn't reach to the center of the table because the table was too large and their reach too far; now, they simply spin the beautiful Lazy Susan around to themselves! no more 'pass this'-'pass that'...
We own a family Italian food restaurant in our community so giving a Lazy Susan at Christmas and one designed from a wine barrel lid couldn't have been more appropriate for Grandpa! He absolutely loved receiving it!
It is a very unique piece and everyone that sees it loves it and says that they are going to order one as well...
Thanks Uncommon Goods for having the 'Uncommon gift'!

Finish is glossy...I was hoping for something more rustic, but I guess this is more practical for avoiding water damage and stains.
The winery stamps were light and small, not as nice as shown in the catalog. But hey, they're not mass produced, so variation has to be expected.
The construction and finish on the bottom were poor. In particular, the platform is screwed to a disc of particle board, which may be visible depending distance and height of people seated at table.
The rotating mechanism strikes me as a bit flimsy, but others may find it perfectly fine. It's smaller in diameter than I would have imagined, which makes me wonder if this lazy susan will tip if you put a heavy item near the edge with no ballast on the oposite side.
Bottom line: I guess it's adequate. I did shop around a bit before buying this, and didn't see anything similar for $100 or less, so I can't really say I wish I'd bought something else from another retailer. Even so, given the choice of yes/no would I recommend it to a friend, I have to say no.

Comments about Retired Wine Barrel Lazy Susan:
It was bigger than I expected, but ended up that I love the size, even for my smaller kitchen table. Husband was very happy with this gift, and I love it too.

Comments about Retired Wine Barrel Lazy Susan:
bought this lazy susan as a stand for a wedding cake (i'm a baker) for a rustic wedding situation. The lazy susan part fell off when i opened it. The screws were way too short. Luckily, i didn't want to use it as a lazy susan, but just as a tray, so this was fine. The stand itself is gorgeous. I will get lots of use out of it.

This Lazy Susan is so pretty and functional. I will use on my very large, round table on my screened in porch at the lake, where I also enjoy my vino. Since it is made from retired wine barrels, it is perfect!

Comments about Retired Wine Barrel Lazy Susan:
We like the concept and the creativity, but there is damage to the top that takes away from the quality of the product.
Comments about Retired Wine Barrel Lazy Susan:
I had been looking at this item for well over a year and finally decided to purchase. I was so excited and couldn't wait to receive it. Well, I was very dissappointed. I ordered the dark version and it is far from being the rich color shown on the web site, in fact it is rather washed out and dull, definitely closer in color to the light version offered. In addition, you can very clearly see the particle board base that it sits on; it's almost like it is too large and makes it look rather tacky. I know someone else who ordered one and it looks fabulous, just as pictured on the web site. Overall, the concept is good, just not worth the money spent. After so much anticipation it has a huge disapointment and it will more than likely be going back to UnCommon Goods.

I have a circular dining room glass table top. This fit perfectly in the middle of the decorative table base, and the color matched my dining room set perfectly. Now, no more trying to pass dishes around at the table. Great and fun product.

Comments about Retired Wine Barrel Lazy Susan:
This gift worked out great for mom - she's always wanted a lazy susan so I had my eye out for a good one when this popped up on uncommongoods.com. I was a bit worried about some of the reviews that said the base wasn't well attached/it was uneven, but at least the one that arrived for us was totally attached and stable. My BF accidentally scratched it before we gave it to her, but luckily he had some bore oil to rub into the wood and the scratch totally went away.
In any case, the gift ended up being really special - not just because she'd always wanted one, but because the wine barrel used was Rodney Strong, and we actually went to that vineyard together so it gave the gift extra meaning. Ever since christmas, she's been sending me pictures of her using at at various dinner parties to serve appetizers.

Comments about Retired Wine Barrel Lazy Susan:
Picture in catalog had writing on it. The product had nothing but a metal label attached. Looks like someone put together oak boards cut it in a circle then stained it red. Lazy Susan piece is poorly attached, fell off had to add extra screws.
