      Comments about PET PRINT ORNAMENT:

I was very pleased with the end result. I received two kits as a present last Christmas and just got around to using them. I liked how the material could be easily molded again if the print didn't turn out to my satisfaction. It does take a bit of practice to figure out just how hard to press the paw into the material to get a nice looking print. On the first dog, it took me four tries, but the second dog took only one try. My husband and I did this together, which was the way to go. We put the material on a piece of aluminum foil and placed it on the floor. My husband held the dog's paw and I held the foil. We had to work quickly because my dog would pull back her paw as soon as it touched the material. You need to keep a firm grip on the paw so the dog doesn't ruin the impression.

Someone commented that the ring was difficult to use because it was folded in the box. The ring is moldable and I found with a little patience, you can get it into a nice round circle. Also, I did cut off some of the ring because I wanted the ornament to be a little smaller. When removing the ring, the material did stick to the ring a bit as I was pulling it away. But, all I had to do was tap it back in with my finger and it looked fine. Next time, I might try rubbing a little PAM on the ring with my finger.

The other thing I liked was that the end product is quite light. I have another paw print that I received from a vet's office when my pet was put down. That one is made of hard plaster and it is extremely fragile. I would never be able to put it on the Christmas tree because it would get broken for sure.

The only drawback I encountered was the next morning, my dog jumped up on the table where the ornaments were drying. She managed to get her own ornament, and proceeded to gnaw on it and take a couple of bites out of it before I spotted her. So, I am ordering two more today....one for my newest puppy and one for the naughty girl. :)

[...] it was quite difficult to actually create the print. Now that I've completed the process by letting the print dry, I can assure that this product is not even worth the [$] sale price. The ring did not come cleanly off the product. The molding material has cracked in many places. Basically, it looks awful. I'll be throwing it away and definitely not putting it on display anywhere. I honestly recommend that UG remove this from their site.

            Comments about PET PRINT ORNAMENT:

You have to make the plastic strip into a ring yourself. Because it was folded in the box, you can't really get it round. Also, it's very hard to get a dog paw spotlessly clean, so you're likely to get some dust smooshed in the white materials. All in all, a cute idea, but it's not going to look as nice as the picture.

                Comments about PET PRINT ORNAMENT:

I am a frequent shopper of uncommongoods.com and have always been impressed by the quality of the items until now. I ordered 4 ornaments for my 4 dogs. Two arrived with an expiration date of 7/7/08, which meant the molding material was dried out and not useable. The other two had updated packaging and no expiration date but the molding material was too moist and not workable. It stuck to my hands and was not kneadable, which is one of the first steps of the directions. Leaving the material out for a while to dry and firm a bit didn't help--it was still too tacky to knead let alone use to make a paw impression. This product was a complete disappointment. What's more, I ordered this for two other people and I now have to find out whether or not they had the same issues I did. I am embarassed to have sent them such shoddy product. [...]The idea is a great one, the package comes with complete, clear instructions and everything you need to finish the product from beginning to end. It's just too bad the essential part was defective.
