Periodic Table of Childhood: Colleen Lin

$75.00 - 145.00

Elementary, My Dear

Each child has a unique chemistry. They bubble with enthusiasm, react explosively, or lift spirits higher than any balloon. Designer Colleen Lin captures these elements and more in her brilliant Periodic Table. Instead of listing the elements of matter, it's filled with the building blocks of childhood, from Affection to Zest. Inspired by 1950s science textbooks, she uses bold colors and the retro-looking Futura typeface. And as in the real periodic table, the attributes are gathered into distinct families, and a color-coded key is framed with the print to show which colors indicate "the most important element," "what children give to parents" and more. Sure to exert a magnetic pull on young and old alike, the image is printed on archival matte paper with premium inks designed to remain brilliant for an entire lifetime. Made in Dallas, Texas.

Red: the most important element
Orange: what parents give to children
Yellow: what children give to parents
Green & Teal: what a child does
Blue: parental virtues
Light Blue: the results of a parent/child bond
Blue-Violet: elemental values
Violet: the results of all elements combined
Light Violet: wishes for every family
Pink: the second most important element
