This old world looks downright sparkly seen through the bottom of Terry Craig and Jennifer Wanless-Craig's hand-blown mica rocks glasses. The silvery mica flakes, floating in the base of the glass, look like glitter confetti tossed in the air at a glamorous party. Terry and Jennifer source the material near their home in Canada's Haliburton Highlands, and hire an assistant to help, as the addition of mica makes their craft even trickier than usual.
Mica is naturally layered in thin sheets that have to be pulled apart and sliced into small slivers before they can be molded. Terry and Jennifer then heat and form the glass in a series of steps that create their beautiful, handmade look. The result is this pair of masterpieces for nature lovers, geology buffs, and anyone who appreciates everyday things made special. Made in Ontario, Canada.
