Molten Sculptural Bowl

A sculptural bowl of flowing, hand blown glass is draped over the gnarled root of a gamal tree.

$135.00

Take Root

This stunning, art glass vase seems to bridge different worlds: natural and manmade; earthy and refined; practical and otherworldly.

The base is the gnarled root of a gamal tree. Quick growing but relatively short-lived, gamal trees are used by farmers in Indonesia as live fencing. New saplings grow in to replace the older growth, and local artisans have discovered ways to use the intricate beauty of their roots.

Here, those roots are draped with a hand blown glass vessel, which takes on a unique, organic form as it cradles into the nooks and ridges of its new base. On its own, the piece is a striking, sculptural accent for any room, but it can be put to use as well. It provides an eye-catching setting for cut flowers or a one-of-a-kind wine decanter. Because of the nature of the materials, no two will ever be the same. Handmade in Indonesia.

I got this as a gift for a very difficult sister to shop for. She loves unique rustic peices in her home. The second I saw this, I knew she'd love it! To date this is the best gift she's ever been given! She sent me pictures & it's gorgeous. Perfect size for a beta fish or a terrarium for succulents. Needless to say I'm very happy with my purchase!!

When the product came in, I was very excited to see it and give it to my wife for Valentines Day. I opened it to make sure it was in tact and I found it to be small and the glass bowl was scratched from top to bottom on one side. I gave it to my wife and she likes it. We both agreed we can turn it to where the scratch is facing the wall so we didn't return it, we just lived with it. You definitely could NOT make this a fish bowl as it is way too small. We have ours empty because nothing really fits in it. It's still unique and has character but not all it's cracked up to be. Maybe we got the runt of the production run that week, who knows.

Comments about UncommonGoods Molten Sculptural Bowl:

How often do you find something that you've never seen before and had no idea even existed until you stumble across it? That's how I feel about this bowl. It's truly one of a kind and amazing- and I'm not the kind of person to shout superlatives from the rooftop!
My husband is going to love this.

Comments about UncommonGoods Molten Sculptural Bowl:

This is the perfect gift for someone who loves nature inspired items. The true test will be what my son and daughter-in-law think about it on Christmas. But I think they will love it. At first, I was hoping for a different style but since everyone is different you don't know exactly what you're getting. The more I look at it the more I love it. It's really tempting to keep it for myself.

Comments about UncommonGoods Molten Sculptural Bowl:

I am always on the lookout for artsy and affordable gifts for family members. I do not want to gift items that will eventually end up in the back of a closet. This vase is beautiful and the perfect size. If it were larger it would distract from the beauty and probably look like a stump from your backyard. I am very pleased with every item I have purchased from UncommonGoods. What more can I say? Except yay!

Comments about UncommonGoods Molten Sculptural Bowl:

Beautiful piece, I'm looking forward to giving it as a gift. In order to mold to the shape of the wood, the glass is thick which may be unexpected. There was a small chip in the rim of my bowl when it arrived.

Comments about UncommonGoods Molten Sculptural Bowl:

I wanted to put a Betta in it but it's way too small for anything but very short stem flowers. Mine is tall rather than wide (about half the width and twice as tall as the picture shown) making it too precarious for a vase. Also, some of the wood that supports the bowl was broken off when I opened the box. Neat concept but too small for the price. Some idea of the dimensions, even though they vary, would be helpful. Probably wouldn't have bought it if I'd known how small it would be.
