Responsible Business Practices

mission statement

"Our mission is to put a J.K. Adams product in the hands of every person who is passionate about their kitchen, about the food they make, and about the connections made while entertaining with good food and good friends. We will design and produce products that are exceptional from a functional, aesthetic, and quality standpoint and will always stand by them with a full 100% replacement guarantee. We will continually work to prove that well run companies with committed and customer focused employees can grow and prosper by producing high quality products in an environmentally and socially responsible manner in the United States."

fair wage

J.K. Adams pays employees a starting wage of $12/hr., which exceeds Bennington County's living wage.

- Local (Vermont State) minimum wage: $10
- Federal minimum wage: $7.25
- Living wage of Bennington County: $10.18

paid time off

All full time employees receive 9 paid holidays and earn PTO based on years of service, from 1 to 4 weeks. They also receive 3 paid personal days off per year, available on January 1st and to be used within the calendar year.

recycling primary/secondary materials

J.K. Adams recycles all of its primary material (wood). All of their scrap and by-product pieces of wood are collected and burned in one of two wood-burning furnaces, which in turn reduces their dependence on fossil fuels. The sawdust they generate is collected in two 20-foot containers and sold to local dairy farms.

charitable giving

J.K. Adams has a long history of supporting local charities. These non-profit organizations include their local library, an organization focused on their local forests, a local theater, and organizations focused on numerous health and educational issues. In 2014, they provided these organizations with financial and product donations for events and auctions totaling $10,000.

The company supports local farmers and producers. During the summer months, a local farm operates a produce stand two days a week from in front of their building, and in the winter, they host the Sunday Dorset Farmers Market in their manufacturing facility.

Environmentally Friendly Materials

Sustainably-harvested North American maple — a natural source material. Glass - a recyclable material.

Resourceful Packaging

The Milk and Cookies Dunk and Drink Set is packed in a partially recycled and 100% recyclable corrugated carton, which is also compostable.

Makes a great gift for cookie lovers

Easy and comfortable to hold

It's extremely cleaver, but not very practical.

The wood should be a larger circumference to accommodate a large glass.

What a great idea and it is made so well, can't wait to use.

Use the way it was intended, cookies and milk

Glass doesn't fit into plate as shown

I bought two of these for my husband and son to use to enjoy their nightly milk and cookies but the glass doesn't fit into the plate, kind of defeats the whole purpose!!! I didn't want to go through the aggravation of repacking and returning, my husband is going to try to widen the opening so they are useful.

Milk and cookies

My wife likes Mike and cookies. This helps her not make a mess on the sofa.

Kind of dumb.

I thought this was a cute idea. When I got it, it was smaller than I was imagining, and it just wasn't very practical. The glass was small, and not very comfortable to hold. (I like more milk with my cookies!) I got it for a gift, but didn't end up giving it because I really didn't like it. I was just going to put it in goodwill stuff, until my hubby used it. It ended up getting put in the dishwasher and just fell apart into three pieces of wood. There was hardly anything holding the wood together - Just some kind of laminate. The price on this is too much for the quality and practicality. It is a dumb gift. No one is going to want to use this.

Great Idea!!!

cute clever idea
