Legends of Rock

Get ready to rock like it's the end of the world! Husband and wife team Dustin and Stephanie Headrick hand craft these epic guitar picks from vintage brass replicas of the Mayan calendar. The calendar is famous for supposedly predicting the end of the world in 2012--the math may have been off, but the calendar is still pretty hardcore. Each pick is made from a fragment of the calendar, with easy-to-grip ridges and swirls embellished with colorful, painted details. Because these picks are made from existing brass miniatures, there is a limited number of them available, and each one is as unique as the guitarist who wields it. Shaped by hand in Nashville, Tennessee.

Nashville natives Stephanie and Dustin Headrick transform common cents into uncommon guitar picks. The couple started with a collection of silver quarters and half-dollars, but didn't really want to watch them sit around for 50 years and collect dust. It's well known with musicians that silver coin guitar picks have been around for a hundred years, but actually getting your hands on one is a rare thing. So, the savvy numismatists began hand-honing the coins into picks and immediately loved the tinny sound they produced. After gaining popularity at local craft fairs, they began experimenting with other materials: brass, bronze, copper, aluminum, hardwood, and even horn. To date, they've sold tens of thousands of handmade guitar picks to musicians all over the world, with many customers becoming avid collectors.

Comments about UncommonGoods Mayan Brass Guitar Pick:

It was a gift and i asked him to play with his original plastic pic and this one one a classic guitar. It does sound different and nice. To the touch, this product feels great and it looks great. He liked it so much he said he wanted to keep it in a safe because he is afraid of damaging it or losing it haha.

    Service and delivery comments:

This pick is beautiful. The colors are more vibrant than the picture shows. I bought it for a retirement gift and I know he will enjoy it.

Comments about UncommonGoods Mayan Brass Guitar Pick:

I understand that they are each unique but the one that I received was about 2/3 plain brass with a little bit of design on the edge. The artist should have thrown this edge away as scrap. I buy my son unique picks as collectors items more than to really use, but this is so slippery (because most of it is just polished brass) that I don't think it would be useful to actually play with if he wanted to. I will be returning it.

Comments about UncommonGoods Mayan Brass Guitar Pick:

Bought this gift for my niece's 18th birthday. She's learning to play guitar, but loved it so much that she's having the pick holed so she can wear it as a pendant. I've not seen it so I can't say anything further about it. My sister, however, said "great gifts" (also bought the transpoosition ring).
