These were a wedding gift for two high school band directors. They were thrilled, and I'm sure they will use the glasses often. In case you're wondering how accurately tuned the glasses are, my kids used an electronic tuner to check them. They were exactly right (in tune and on key). Of course, the recipients checked the tune as well. So you can give these to musicians without worrying.

The tones made by these glasses surpassed our expectations. The less liquid in the glass, the easier it is to get the tone, so we assigned our glasses according to age and proficiency, and started trying to play stuff. We didn't get far with that before we discovered how calming this activity is. We found that we all just plain liked the process of making the glasses sing, and we felt relaxed by that and by the sounds they made. Then, of course, you could put wine into them! :) Be aware that the quantities of liquid needed to produce most of the notes would have you under the table in no time. We used water in most of our glasses, and two of the kids had milk and juice, respectively. Most of us are musicians, and this was a definite 'win' purchase.
They are fun and entertaning. They do produce the correct sounds to our amateur ears. Most of all they do require a learning curve, but that became our favorite part. Just taking turns trying to make the correct sounds could be entertaining for hours. With all due respect to the time someone put into these glasses they are a bit pricey for their purpose.
We bought these as a wedding gift for someone and they have since sent us videos of them using them in different situations. Evidently they are a hit at all their get togethers that they have. Thanks for the unique and thoughtful gift!
Great gift that is beautiful and fun and practical. This can be used over and over again and passed down to future generations.

Useful, unusual and fun all rolled into one.
This was a Christmas gift for our sister(music director of education)and brother-in-law (retired professor of music and retired assistant conductor. They found this to be a unique and intriguing gift and could not wait to host a dinner party.
It was a great Christmas gift for a musician who enjoys entertaining with an occasional wine party

There should be a flyer or something that describes the use of the glasses in the box when it is opened. I made a copy of the catalog page so that my daughter would know what the glasses are for. In fact the image at the top of this page would make a great flyer to put in the box so the person knows, right off the bat, how cool the gift is and how it is to be used.
