Play Koi With Me
Ah, the tranquil existence of a koi fish: Swimming in cool ponds, admiring cherry blossoms, and dining on tasty dragonflies. Experience a week in the life of a koi, while competing to devour the most food, in this beautifully illustrated strategy game. By drawing cards to move your fish and add "natural beauty" to the pond, you can block other players or improve your own prospects. (For example, rocks keep koi from swimming into certain spaces and cherry blossoms create ripples that move game pieces.)
Each turn takes place over one day in gameland, with changing weather as the game progresses. It's rainy? The frogs in the pond are jumping. Sunny? Fresh lily pads are springing up, spawning a feast of dragonflies. While there is some friendly competition involved, the strategic movements and opportunities to beautify the board make your "week" of gameplay (actually 40 minutes to an hour) a moment of zen. And, when a game night isn't in your immediate future, there's also an option to play solo. Made in China.
