Home is Where the Art Is
A whimsical representation of the love, music, and sweetness that fills a family's home Cathy Nichol's petite print puts what matters into perspective and makes a charming addition to any space.
Cathy creates each vibrant artwork using beeswax encaustic paint and collaged snippets of musical scores and vintage ruler images. Used by ancient Greek and Egyptian portrait makers, encaustic is a centuries-old art making technique that uses melted colored beeswax to create glossy drawings. She then takes high-resolutions scans of the original paintings. She prints the images using an artisan printer and then adheres the prints onto the birch panels using acrylic medium. To finish, she hand-embellishes each print with glittering rhinestones and uses a rubber-tipped tool to create an intriguing and one-of-a-kind texture. Handmade in Asheville, North Carolina, and signed by the artist.
